We noticed that the Gion festival was starting on the 14th, so we changed our plans a little to go back to Kyoto and party in the streets. They bring all of the giant floats out for display at night and turn the area into a big street party. I didn't take too many good photos since my camera takes crap night shots (and I'm not a good a photographer when I'm partying). It was totally worth coming back for the night. The area is normally busy, but it was crazy packed that night. We didn't stay for the parade, it was two days later, but it's not supposed to be as fun as the night parties anyway.
