Siriraj medical museum

Had to head back to bancock to catch out bus to siem Reap.  I wasn't able to go to the infamous medical museum because it was closed.  It was open this time! Not for the faint of heart,  but me and sunni are pretty sick,  so we had a great time.  It's really a whole complex of mini museums.  We went to:

  • Research- showed in graphic detail how we die.  Heart disease,  cancer,  etc.  Really well done and informative.
  • Pathology- photos and organs of murder victims.  A huge exhibit on how they classified the dead bodies from the last tsunami,  and a bunch of bodies of murderers and rapists.  Including one guy who ate the livers of kids because he though it would make him immortal.
  • Parasites- completely devoted to Thai parasites. Learned that raw meat and fish are a bad idea.  So is pooping in your water supply.  And don't get bit by mosquitos,  you might end up with giant elephtantitus nuts.
  • Anatomy - ENDLESS bodies and body parts.  Overwhelming. Most of the professors donated their bodies to the museum so you can see their bones and organs.
We snuck quite a few pics when the guards weren't looking.

Graphic images: be warned

Giant scrotum!

I ate little kids.  Now my body slowly rots in a museum.

You mean eating the livers of kids won't make me immortal? ....oops!

Also, thank you for the mention of "pooping in your water supply". The mere mention of the word "poop" makes your travel blog complete.
