Worth every mosquito bite and annoying tourist. Highlight of the trip so far. A contemporary art lovers dream. It's been happening every two years since 1895. Spread across two massive areas both at the end of the island. It took us two days to see everything (over 9 solid hours of art!!!). As with any exhibition, I didn't like or understand every piece, but the overall experience and quality of the art was WELL WORTH the trip to Venice.
There area past the biennale is actually really nice. It's a good two miles away from where you enter Venice, so there really aren't the throngs of tourist, and I think local people actually live there. There was huge community party/feast going on when heading back to celebrate the end of the plague. We wanted to stay and party, but the bus back to out BnB only ran so late.
I took hundreds of pics. I'll post some of my favorites and then link a full gallery of all of them at the end.
